Your VAT health check! An update on the VAT job market (by James Bain)

Summer has ended, autumn is upon us and Christmas is now rapidly approaching (along with the last chance to capitalise on the reduced rate of VAT, or so we are told).

How has your year been?                                                                           

Throughout three seasons of 2009 so far, the VAT marketplace has been a relatively healthy place for VAT practitioners across the country; from the lucrative Conde/Naste Fleming cases and contingency fees, to quality ad hoc one off projects that have kept this field quite robust while other areas have retracted or collapsed.

Although VAT recruitment in professional practice has slowed somewhat in recent weeks, senior business winning vacancies and middle management positions remain available across the hubs and the prognosis for the newly VAT qualified marketplace is also promising, with a number of firms looking to recruit at the senior/AM level later this year or early in Q1 of 2010.
